Barry Hudson
Hudson’s representational works owe much to the impressionists. The paintings are nevertheless individual and distance themselves from the traditional genre by the use of bold areas of colour and shapes that are contrived to flatten the picture plane. Says the artist “I don’t attempt to recreate the effect of a photograph. I accentuate the colours and occasionally use impasto, texture and strong graphical shapes to suggest an accessible and recognisable whole”
